Predominantly Northern Soul, Motown and 60s girl groups,Great Big Kiss, a spin off night from the wonderful How Does It Feel To Be Loved?, is a true gem amongst London’s nightlife.
Running on the second Friday of every month at the Buffalo Bar (just outside Highbury and Islington tube station), this clubnight has a great vibe from the offset with their handmade membership cards and friendly cloak room/ticket sales staff waiting to welcome you in.
Guest DJ Launette, took the first half of this month’s installment (9th September), churning out swinging 60s delights before handing over to regular DJ Ian Watson (owner and master of the night!) for the second half.
As the bedroom dancing kicks in so does the exaggerated swinging 60s moves which makes this clubnight such a treat among the generic indie-plaid-shirt-wearing-kasbian-alternative club nights littering the center these days.
The Buffalo Bar, perfect it seems to encase just the right amount of people, gets a bit sweaty at times while offering an array of homemade vodka shots to cool you down or liven you up! – Blueberry and butterscotch recommended!
The last song is celebrated by all, soaking up the last bit of 60s escapism and clapping ceremoniously when over. You just know you’ll see the same faces again.
